1. Why did you join the technology industry?
I joined the ICT sector by fluke, when my Brother suggested I should join a larger corporation. I had been working in politics prior as a policy advisor and he knew I could work my way up in a company… so, I joined Bell. I had started at an entry level position learning the industry every step of the way. I loved learning many aspects of the industry, with my early days in voice networks and working my way to data networks, eventually to managed services and cloud services. Having been a quarter-back Account Executive, I loved working closely with my customers in understanding their key drivers and motives for projects and then crafting the solutions with my engineering teams.

2. Who is the person who has inspired you professionally?

Sam Pelpola was an Account Executive with Bell over 14 years ago, that had walked into the contact centre environment and I found out what he did with Bell. At the time, I didn’t understand the role of an account executive and how they helped managed many of the relationships with key clients. I knew that I wanted to get to build strong meaningful relationships with clients in working closely to address their technology needs.

3. If you could give one piece of advice to your 13-year-old self what would it be?
Without any question, I would tell myself to learn how to code. When I grew up, at that time, computers were still relatively new and the Internet had just started to take off in the late 90s. But if I could go back in time, I would encourage myself to get into computer science and learn how to code.

4. How do you think we can encourage more women in tech?
Technology is an ever-evolving profession and it’s just really a lot of fun. Women should absolutely understand and know there are many possibilities open to those that pursue technology and why not women?

5. What is the best part of your job?
Although, I am not a technical cofounder of a technology startup…I love surrounding myself with developers that are helping us build our platform and understanding how our platform is interacting with your customers. BizXPro helps non-technical businesses connect with top rated web development and IT service firms. I love what I am doing and look forward to growing our community over time.
